Welcome to CWAD
Established in 1997, Centre for Women’s Awareness and Development (CWAD), is a leading organization working for the protection and promotion of women and children’s human rights in Nepal. CWAD believes that violation of women’s civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, in formal and informal institutions, perpetuates vicious cycle of violence against them. Guided by human rights based integrated approach and feminist perspective, CWAD’s works encompasses grassroots to national and international level policy advocacy, networking, capacity building and developing women’s agencies. Working with duty bearers at all levels to create support mechanisms to improve access to justice, peace, and good governance and policy provisions for women, girls, children and marginalized communities also characterizes CWAD engagement.

A just society where women, men, youth, children, gender and sexual minorities and other marginalized people equally enjoy their rights for dignified life.
Mission:
CWAD focuses on enjoyment of rights of women, youth, girls, children, gender and sexual minorities and other marginalized people through social, economic and legal justice and sustainable development interventions.
Goal:
CWAD facilitates the process of empowerment and agency building of women, youth, girls, children, gender and sexual minorities, and other marginalized people through promotion of social and economic justice, legal rights and climate adaptive sustainable development initiatives.
Objectives:
- Strengthen social & economic empowerment and agency building processes of women, youth, girls, boys, gender & sexual minorities and marginalized people to access socio-economic justice, services, and rights.
- Improve access to justice of survivors of human rights violations (with focus to GBV, VAW) including violation of ESC Rights for women, youth, girls, boys, gender & sexual minorities, and marginalized people.
- Strengthen local, provincial and federal governments to improve rule of law and good governance related policies, system strengthening, practices and behavior for equitable, inclusive and democratic governance.
- Promote agenda and strategies of mainstreaming of climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and humanitarian response in the government policies and implementation from the perspectives of affected vulnerable groups and communities.
- Strengthen Organizational Development of CWAD as a technical resource organization in the areas of socio-economic justice, legal rights, strengthening rule of law and good governance from the perspective of GESI and climate change impact.
