CWAD in coordination with the Judicial Committee with Tokha Municipality organised a one day program on GBV Elimination Fund on December 29th 2021 (Poush 14, 2078). During this program, Judicial Committee Members, Mediation Committee Members, Ward Members, Executive Members, Mayor, Mayor, representatives of the administrative office, Legal officer, Finance officer, Women, Children department officials and Paralegals of each municipality showed their active participation.
After the welcome speech by CWAD’s Chairperson Dr Anita Shrestha, the program was formally taken ahead. Prof Dr Shashi Adhikari presented the paper on the Gender-Based Violence Elimination Fund. She started her presentation by explaining about Gender-Based Violence and then highlighted the GBV Elimination Fund which includes the amount received from the Government of Nepal. The objective of this awareness program is to make the local level government aware of the GBV elimination fund and highlight the importance and various inventions that can be supported with the help of this fund.
Deputy Mayor of Tokha Municipality Gyan Maya Dongol expressed that the GBV Elimination Fund Procedure has already been prepared in Tokha Municipality. Then, District Administrative Officer Prakash Acharya expressed his gratitude towards CWAD for organising the training program and committed to implementing the fund so that the GBVs cases are minimized in the municipality.
