
This Meeting and Dialogue is for the discussion for the Review Report and “Teen Mahele” of Legal Aid Act with the working group members as well as the law makers, “The Parliamentarian”, on December 11th, 2020 via zoom meeting.
Consultant- Advocate Ajay Shankar Jha “Rupesh” started the Meeting with an overview of his work, Review Report and “Teen Mahale” on Legal Aid Act ensuring easy access to justice to poor, marginalized and disadvantages group.
Then the floor was opened for discussion with 5 minutes each, where the Parliamentarian had their words first among them were Honorable Parliamentarian Dr. Dila Sangraula, Honorable Parliamentarian Dr. Binita Pandey, Honorable Parliamentarian Bijaya K.C., Honorable Parliamentarian Bimala B.K., Honorable Parliamentarian Sita Gurung, and Honorable Parliamentarian Amrita Agrahari.
Followed by the Representative from Supreme Court Bar Association – Senior Advocate Khagendra Prasad Adhikary, the representative from Nepal Bar Association- Advocate Raskhya Basyal (Deputy Chair), then the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) representatives such as FWLD Chairperson Advocate Meera Dhungana, NDWA Chairperson Tika Dahal, INWOLAG Chairperson Advocate Indira Sirish, FRESH International Executive Director Advocate Shanti Risal Kaphle, and DAFOU Nepal Bardiya Chairperson Khima B.K. had their inputs and suggestions.
All these input or suggestion as well as the recording of the Meeting and Dialogue was then used by our consultant for the incorporation and finalization of the Review Report and “Teen Mahale”. As this has a viewpoint from people from various background and society/community to help revise on gender perspective for ensuring access to justice of poor, marginalized and disadvantage group.
