Advocacy on National Policy / Laws and Localization of Legal Aid Policy at Municipality level

The intensive advocacy of working Group members (GOs &Civil Society) Legal aid policy has been passed from the cabinet in 2019.  So, it is crucial time to implement the legal aid policy from national to local level. Therefore, CWAD is continuously conduct meeting and dialogue to Municipality to localize the legal aid policy and implement the legal aid policy in Municipality and recognize the role of paralegals at local level.

Similarly, CWAD constantly advocacy to the Government for gender equality and protection and promotion of basic human rights of women to bring their attention on women’s human rights issues at national and international level.  CWAD commence its efforts on women’s access to justice for promoting women’s rights in a broad range such as right to education, right to property, right to employment, right to participation in decision making level, right to identity of women.

In this regards CWAD recently prepared teen Mahale, on National Civil Code 2074 and Procedural code 2074, National Criminal Code, 2017, National Criminal Procedure Code 2017 and the Criminal Offences (Sentencing and Execution) Act, 2017 and Legal Aid Act  from gender perspective and organized the discussion program on each teen mahale for collecting the suggestion from GOs, Parliamentarian, and Civil Society Organization and submit to Ministry of Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs as a CSOs participation on law making process for the transparency, accountability and good governance. Moreover, CWAD advocacy on reform on the punishment and compensation of victim women of Acid attack, punishment and compensation for rape victim of  girl child, old women and all kind of women.

CWAD advocate on recognition of the Community Paralegal role and responsibility to make easy access to justice to poor and marginalized people.  Localization of Legal Aid Policy in Local Government to establish institutional mechanism to manage and regulate paralegal programs. Moreover, various women rights campaign undertaken in order to convince the government to reform discriminatory laws.
