Butwal, Rupandehi  May 26–27, 2026

Center for Women Awareness and Development (CWAD), in coordination with Feminist Dalit Organization (FEDO), Nepal and district-level partner organizations, successfully conducted a two-day Feminist Leadership and Movement Building Training in Butwal, Lumbini Province.

The training brought together executive board members, frontline leaders, volunteers, focal persons, and staff from partner organizations working with marginalized and excluded communities. The program aimed to strengthen feminist leadership, transformative leadership, and collective movement-building capacities among women-led organizations.

During the training, participants engaged in interactive discussions, presentations, group exercises, reflection, experience sharing, and peer-learning activities. Key topics included feminist leadership, conceptual clarity on gender and sex, safeguarding practices, challenging gender stereotypes and preconceptions, and strategies for building inclusive and sustainable social movements.

The final day focused on gender equality, women’s rights, human rights, legal frameworks related to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and policies for the protection of women and girls. Participants actively explored the existing legal and policy environment and discussed the role of women-led organizations in advancing rights, protection, and social justice at the community level.

The training provided an important platform for learning, collaboration, critical reflection, and networking among participants, contributing to stronger feminist leadership and collective action for social transformation. It also encouraged participants to deepen their commitment to advancing gender equality and amplifying the voices of marginalized and excluded communities.

The sessions were facilitated by Prof. Dr. Shashi Adhikary, with coordination and technical support provided by Manita Panta Rayamajhi.

CWAD extends its sincere appreciation to all participants, partner organizations, and facilitators for their active engagement, valuable contributions, and continued commitment to women’s empowerment, gender equality, and social transformation.
